Director of Forestry Tours Galang'ombe
Posted on 29-Nov-2022
The Director of Forestry toured Inkosana Galang’ombe village in Mzuzu courtesy of Ripple Africa, a UK charity empowering communities to realise a sustainable future in the country.
In his remarks, Ripple Africa Country Director Mr Force Ngwira applauded the Department of Forestry, which is a legitimate and authentic Government Forestry Policy Holder for its
inclusive approach in not only restoring degraded landscapes, managing trees and forests, but also embracing efficient cooking interventions such as Changu change moto. ‘‘Our central philosophical ideology coins from empowering communities to achieve a sustainable forestry future by providing a hand up, not a handout,’’ said Ngwira.
On the occasion, Gama inspected and advised various Ripple Africa lead farmers to practice income-generating activities such as beekeeping, and to take fire prevention measures in advance so that the survival of the plantations is ensured.
Meanwhile, the Director of Forestry is appealing to all Malawians to join the wagon of conservation efforts and reaffirming calls for conceited transformative actions in protecting and restoring our degraded landscapes.
