DoF, MWASIP Tours Zomba Plantation
The Department of Forestry through Malawi Watershed Services Improvement Project (MWASIP) has  committed to plant and manage pinus trees covering an area of 100 hectares of Zomba Plantation to ensure the continued growth and survival of the pine trees.

In his remarks, Zomba Plantation Manager Dan Mbeu said pines are an important source of lumber, paper products, and other goods, so a healthy and thriving pine plantation could help support jobs and local economies.

Concuring with Mbeu, MWASIP Technical Team Lead responsible for Forestry Tuntufye Mboma said the plantation plays an important role in the environment by absorbing carbon dioxide and other pollutants from the air, which could help mitigate the effects of climate change. Mboma said, "MWASIP believes that a restored plantation could help ensure the long-term health and sustainability of the plantation, as well as provide numerous environmental and economic benefits".

Zomba Plantation comprises of 5164.4 hectares.
