ICAT
Initiative for Climate Action Transparency
Better data and skills to measure emissions and removals from forestry, so Malawi can report credibly on its climate commitments.
The review of Malawi’s first Biennial Transparency Report (October 2025) found gaps in the forestry emissions time series and in land representation. This one-year project will strengthen data management for reporting under the Enhanced Transparency Framework, build staff expertise in estimating emissions and removals from forestry and waste, and develop measurement, reporting and verification frameworks to track progress on the Nationally Determined Contribution.
