INSPIRE-O
Integrated Social Protection for Resilience and Opportunity
Climate-smart public works — natural regeneration, community woodlots and riverbank restoration — within a national social protection programme.
INSPIRE-O builds on the Social Support for Resilient Livelihoods Project. It combines predictable and shock-responsive social assistance with short-term employment, ultra-poor graduation and micro-enterprise support, to increase resilience to climate and economic shocks and expand job opportunities for poor and vulnerable groups. Women will make up at least 60% of graduation and micro-enterprise beneficiaries.
The Department of Forestry is a partner in the Climate-Smart Labour-Intensive Public Works sub-component, with natural regeneration management, community forests and woodlots, and riverbank protection and restoration.
